Ben Mathews has spent more than two decades in corporate finance, much of it building finance functions inside growing companies. Most recently he was Director of Finance at Renewance, where he built the finance and accounting team from the ground up, set up the monthly close, annual operating plan, and FP&A processes, and put in place the accounting policies that carried the company through its first audit. Before that, as Corporate Controller at BrightStar Care, he directed financial reporting, audits, tax, and treasury for the corporate entity and oversaw financial compliance across more than 375 franchise locations.
He has worked closely with boards and private equity investors throughout his career. During seven years as Corporate Controller at Pure Health Solutions, he presented financial results to the board and its private equity investment team and managed cost accounting for the company's manufacturing plant in South Korea. At BrightStar Care, he built SOX-compliant controls and played a key role in M&A due diligence, valuation, and post-close integration. He began his career as a financial analyst at Baxter International.
Ben is based in Chicago and is a graduate of Northern Illinois University.
