Abby Liebeskind’s practice focuses on the legal issues that companies face related to user data and the obligations that arise under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), the Protect Our Children Act of 2008, and similar foreign laws. She frequently advises clients on how to respond to content take-down requests and requests for user data from domestic and foreign law enforcement, as well as third party requests in civil litigation. Abby also assists clients as they establish law enforcement compliance programs by drafting and implementing policies and procedures with an eye towards later transparency reporting or auditing. In addition, she has experience with online safety and child exploitation matters.
Abby has long been passionate about the convergence of technology and law, and during law school she worked as a student attorney with the Start-Up Ventures and Community Economic Development clinics at Duke University School of Law. Earlier in her career, Abby was a research analyst at the Center for Innovative Technology, where she investigated how novel technologies could be used to educate soldiers in the field for the Department of Defense.
